How long does it take to mine 1 bitcoin?
It depends on one ratio: your hashrate against the whole network’s. Every day the network shares out the rewards of about 144 blocks, and on average you get the same slice of them as your slice of the hashing.
days to 1 BTC = 1 ÷ BTC per day
| Setup | Time to 1 BTC | BTC per day |
|---|---|---|
| A phone (assumed)10 MH/s, assumed | 606 million years | 0.00000000000451 BTC |
| One Antminer S21200 TH/s | 30 years | 0.00009030 BTC |
| Small farm1 PH/s | 6.1 years | 0.00045148 BTC |
| Industrial site1 EH/s | 2.2 days | 0.45147714 BTC |
The phone row is a deliberately generous guess; the real test is on the phone mining page. The rest use the Antminer S21, a 200 TH/s machine covered on the mining machine page. To convert between units, use the hashrate converter.
How many bitcoins are mined per day?
About 450 new bitcoins a day, plus transaction fees. Blocks arrive about every 10 minutes, so six an hour and 144 a day, and since the April 2024 halving each block creates 3.125 BTC.
One day on the Bitcoin network
≈ 453 BTC
≈ $38,121,174 a day
That daily pot is fixed by the protocol, not by how many miners show up. When more machines join, the pot stays the same and each one gets a smaller slice. More on how the network keeps that 10-minute pace is in the difficulty guide.
How much bitcoin can one machine mine in a day?
A 200 TH/s ASIC is a serious home machine: loud, hot and about the size of a shoebox with fans. Here’s what it earns against what it burns.

One S21 for one day: what it earns vs its power bill

|---|---|---|---|
| $0.05/kWh | $4.20 | $46,514 | 55% |

Cheap power is the whole game. Whether a machine pays for itself also depends on its price and how long it stays competitive, which the profitability guide covers. Try your own tariff on the profit calculator.
Why does it take longer every year?
Two things stretch the wait. First, the network keeps adding machines. Your ASIC doesn’t get slower, but its share of the pot shrinks as the total hashrate climbs. The difficulty adjusts every 2,016 blocks to keep blocks at 10 minutes, so more hashrate never means more bitcoin per day.
Second, the halving cuts the new coins per block in half about every four years. The next one takes the subsidy from 3.125 to 1.5625 BTC. Play with both below.
Will it ever reach 1 BTC?
Your example, not a forecast
Reaches 1 BTC in 84 years with these settings, against 6.1 years if nothing changed.
Live estimate from today’s network and block reward, before pool fees and electricity. Halving dates assume 10 minutes a block. Fees are held at today’s level.
With halvings on, a single machine at today’s network can only ever mine a limited total, because each era pays half the one before. That’s why the table above is a best case, not a plan.
Does anyone mine a whole bitcoin alone?
Almost nobody. A block goes to whoever finds it, whole. Mining solo with one S21, you’d expect to find a block about once every 95 years on average, and you might never find one.
One machine, 30 days
So miners join mining pools. The pool finds blocks often and pays each member in proportion to the work they sent. Nobody “mines 1 bitcoin”: balances build up in small pieces until they reach a payout threshold.
Definition · Pool payout
A mining pool combines its members’ hashrate and shares each block reward in proportion to the work each member contributed, so members receive small, regular payments instead of rare whole blocks.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to mine 1 bitcoin?
With one 200 TH/s ASIC it would take about 30 years at today’s network, and longer in practice because the network grows and halvings cut the reward. A 1 EH/s site gets there in about 2.2 days. These are live estimates.
How many bitcoins are mined per day?
About 144 blocks a day, each paying 3.125 BTC of new coins plus transaction fees. That’s 450 new bitcoins a day since the April 2024 halving, and half that after the next one.
How much bitcoin can you mine in a day?
A 200 TH/s ASIC earns about 0.00009030 BTC a day at today’s network, before electricity and pool fees. The expected amount is your share of the network times the 144 blocks found that day.
Can one person mine a whole bitcoin?
Not alone with ordinary equipment. Solo miners wait years between blocks, so nearly everyone joins a pool that pays out in proportion to work done. Your balance builds up bit by bit instead of arriving as one whole coin.
Is it worth mining 1 bitcoin?
It depends on your electricity price and machine. At many home tariffs the power for one ASIC costs close to, or more than, the bitcoin it mines. Check your own numbers on the profit calculator before buying hardware.
Can I mine bitcoin for free with the CloudMineCrypto app?
Yes. Claim the free plan and add more plans by watching ads, playing games, completing offers and checking in daily. Your BTC balance grows while plans run, and you can withdraw to your own wallet, Lightning included. Amounts are small estimates that add up over time, not a path to a whole bitcoin, and they aren’t guaranteed.
Why does it take longer every year to mine 1 bitcoin?
More hashrate joins the network, so each machine’s share shrinks, and about every four years the halving cuts the new-coin reward per block in half.
